- [Voiceover] You may have a project that addresses a given problem better than anything else available today. You worked hard to create a nice ecosystem for you project. But what happens if you decide to reduce your involvement in the project, or eliminate your participation entirely? Do you have a succession plan? Most projects never look at themselves as businesses. There are many reasons why you would want to create a business entity for your project. It helps to shift identity from individual personalities, and as previously mentioned, helps to ensure a life for the project that goes beyond individuals. And yet the most successful projects conduct their affairs with a business-like mindset. That is certainly the case for high-profile projects like jQuery, Open Office, MySQL, MongoDB, and Red Hat, to name a few.
