Position Overview

The Youth Programs Coaching Lead is responsible for supervising and mentoring NYCFC Youth Programs coaching staff, leads with the creation seasonal coaching schedules, internal & external coach training & development and identification of new coaching candidates, and assists in the development of age-appropriate curriculum. This role will provide support to the Director of Youth Programs and assist the department in achieving maximum productivity and efficiency of the coaching staff and ensuring all coaches act in accordance with NYCFC policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do

  • Leads all Youth Programs coaching assignments and schedules within programs
  • Maintains coach personnel files and ensures all coaches adhere to NYCFC employee protocols
  • Assists department head with the development of age-appropriate curriculum for all programs
  • Helps maintain and organize all session plans and curriculum within online platform (Sports Session Planner)
  • Leads seasonal coach recruiting programs to drive talent attraction and ensure hiring targets are met and all programs have appropriate staffing and skillsets needed
  • Leads the review and screening potential candidates through interview process
  • Leads the supervision of all coaching staff including tracking of coach performance, conduct routine evaluations, disciplinary actions, session observations and enforce adherence to established NYCFC standards
  • Leads & develops all internal staff & external youth soccer partnership training & education
  • Creates and improves session plans within curriculum to fit individual needs and requirements of organizations within program
  • Serve as a representative of NYCFC at youth soccer board meetings & events when needed
  • On field coaching as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Who You Are

  • A soccer enthusiast with a thorough knowledge of local grassroots youth soccer
  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal communication skill
  • Ability to identify problems, their sources, and their potential solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to-day operations without interruption
  • Strong sense of self-awareness and emotional intelligence

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 1-2 years youth soccer administrative experience
  • Experience with Sports Session Planner
  • Experience with all Microsoft Suite applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience working in the sports and entertainment industry preferred
  • A minimum of a USSF B License or foreign equivalent
  • Thorough knowledge of local grassroots youth soccer
  • Extensive coaching experience within youth soccer programs
  • Strong presentation and deck development skills
  • Flexibility to work late hours, early mornings and/or weekends as needed
  • Strong ability to manage one’s own time, prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives and be self-directed and able to work independently

Additional Requirements

  • Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary

Compensation

This position has an estimated annual base salary range of $54,500 to $59,000. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and same role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise.
