As the Vice President of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) , you will be responsible for driving profitable growth and setting the strategy for product, underwriting, and operations functions for the NFIP business. You will lead all aspects of the NFIP business to innovate and grow the business. This includes overseeing several business and financial aspects of the product line, including contracting, client relationships, product management, product development, customer service, and operations.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Lead the strategy and operations of the Product Management group.
  • Manage vendor relations and contracts.
  • Supervise the development of tactical plans for product development, execution, and management.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Sales Group to create P&L projections.
  • Establishes current and long-range goals, objectives, plans, and policies for the NFIP product line, customer service, and operations unit.
  • Plans, coordinates, and controls the daily operation of the NFIP product line through its managers and associates. Meets with the organization's other leaders to ensure that policies and procedures are being executed in accordance with the product line's goals and objectives, including overseeing and approving client and campaign-specific goals, strategies, and campaign termination points and monitoring thereof.
  • Oversees development of new products and enhances existing products and services, including setting a competitive strategic plan for product development with emphasis on proper product features, benefits, and price positioning through the product line's managers and associates to meet or exceed the competition and provide a compelling argument for implementing new products.
  • Develops, secures approval of, and guides managerial personnel in developing and administering an operating budget for the area of responsibility and attainment of agreed-upon goals in accordance with approved plans. Administers or delegates the administration of budgets, approving expenditures, reviewing reports, etc.
  • Promote collaboration across business units and functional areas to facilitate achieving goals and objectives.
  • Serves as the executive liaison with key external partners, including FIMA and Congress, related to the NFIP.
  • Lead all M&A activity for NFIP. Partner with the Assurant M&A team to identify potential targets, lead due diligence, and negotiate targeted M&A deals as appropriate.


What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the NFIP product, including insurance, operations, IT systems, claims, and billing, and a solid understanding of insurance operations.
  • Previous P&L responsibility with a proven track record of managing and growing a product line.
  • Prior experience managing an overall product line, leading a seasoned team, growing a product line business, and developing IT Systems to support the business in diverse locations is a plus.
  • Organizational agility.
  • Proven relational skills in a matrix environment.
  • People leadership experience, including building, managing, and developing a high-performing team.


What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • MBA education in related disciplines.


How much should I expect to travel?

  • Up to 10% travel.


Pay Range

$138,200.00 - $230,800.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
