Summary
The Trauma Data Specialist assists with coordinating routine activities associated with the Grady Health System Trauma Registry, including data gathering, data abstraction/entry/coding, data analysis, data validation and maintenance, reporting, and additional clerical duties such as filing, organizing, and assisting with meetings. In addition to serving as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies, the Trauma Data Specialist supports relationships with, and submission of data to, the Georgia Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma (OEMS&T), the National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB), and the Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) for maintenance of state designation, national verification, as well as national benchmarking. The Trauma Data Specialist also assists with special projects under the direction of the Trauma Registry Manager (TRM), Trauma Program Director (TPD) and Trauma Medical Director (TMD).

Qualifications
- Two years college level course work or an Associate's degree equivalent in Health Information Management (HIM) or health-related field.
- Four years college level course work or a Bachelor's degree equivalent in HIM or health-related field.
- Two (2) or more years experience as a trauma registrar or equivalent position in a Trauma Program.
- Facilitate with report running.
- Experience with compiling data for presentations.
