Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through training and experience to process commercial and/or retail loans and prepare closing documents. As a Team Lead, provides day to day direction and support in leading the work of others. Guidance is provided to perform varied work that is somewhat difficult in character requiring some evaluation, originality and ingenuity to make moderately complex decisions. Resolves and recommends solutions to complex problems. Extensive contact with internal and external customers is required to obtain, clarify or provide facts and information and to identify, research, and resolve problems.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provides day to day oversight and direction in leading the work of others and providing training in loan policies and procedures.
  • Works with leadership to improve future business processes and completes documentation of current/future business processes.
  • Responsible for training of new associates, and documenting their progress and milestones. Responsible for reporting successes, and identifying concerns and seeking Management guidance.
  • Leads the work of others and provides training, coaching and mentoring to less experienced associates.
  • Responsible for monitoring the vacation calendar and working to cover pipelines while processors are out of the office.
  • Manage borrower and/or Advisor escalations. Coordinate with leadership to communicate and find resolution.
  • Verifies loan applications and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepares and compiles documents for loan closing and submits for review.
  • Prepares or reviews for accuracy, Good Faith Estimates of Closing Costs, Regulation Z disclosures, and other disclosures required by consumer regulation.
  • Performs initial credit analysis submission via automated underwriting, as requested.
  • Schedules, coordinates loan closings, and clears for disbursement loan proceeds.
  • Prepares compliance and accounting records and reports, as required by management and regulatory agencies.
  • Performs advanced loan calculations.
  • Assists customers with complex inquires or problems.
  • Performs pre-closing, post-closing, or whole loan due diligence review of legal agreements and other closing documents to terms of loan commitment.
  • Maintains currency in loan processing policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of

  • Advanced concepts, practices and procedures of commercial and retail loan documentation and processing.
  • Principles of banking and finance.
  • Financial markets and products.
  • Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Underwriting guidelines
  • Multi-state real estate, closing, and title practices.
  • Federal and State lending laws.
  • Loan origination software packages.

Skill in

  • Processing the most complex loan applications.
  • Verifying loan applications and supporting documents.
  • Preparing loan closing packages.
  • Preparing records and reports.
  • Performing advanced loan calculations.
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications.

Ability to

  • Read, interpret, analyze and apply information from loan application documents
  • Lead the work of other and provide training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Work under pressure on multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Lead others in handling stressful situations and providing a high level of customer service in a calm and professional manner.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Maintain currency in loan processing policies and procedures.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma and five (5) years of loan processing experience.
  • OR ~
  • An equivalent combination of education, training or experience.

Licenses/Certifications

  • None required.
