This role is a HYBRID role based in the Greater Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro Area. The person will need to be locally based and no relocation assistance is available.


POSITION SUMMARY

As a System Administrator, you will occupy a critical position within our organization, charged with the comprehensive management and continuous improvement of our computer systems and network infrastructure. Under the guidance of the AVP of IT, your responsibilities will encompass ensuring flawless operation, meticulous maintenance, and stringent security across all technological platforms. This role involves overseeing servers, workstations, network devices, and software applications to maintain the exceptional reliability and performance that are vital to our operational success. You will be instrumental in enhancing the day-to-day technological functions of our organization, ensuring that our IT capabilities not only satisfy current requirements but are also strategically advanced to meet future demands.


RESPONSIBILITIES

System Administration (30%)

  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Proactively monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to guarantee high availability and reliability.
  • Implement robust security measures to shield systems and data from unauthorized access or breaches.
  • Conduct routine backups and disaster recovery operations to protect critical information.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure data integrity and confidentiality


Network Experience (30%)

  • Oversee the maintenance of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Configure and optimize network protocols, IP addressing, and routing to facilitate efficient data transmission.
  • Monitor network traffic and performance to detect and address connectivity issues or bottlenecks.
  • Implement security protocols and procedures to defend network assets against cyber threats and vulnerabilities.


Technical Support (25%)

  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support to end-users facing hardware, software, or network-related issues.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and incidents, escalating complex issues as necessary to ensure timely resolutions.
  • Document solutions, procedures, and configurations to enhance knowledge sharing and streamline future troubleshooting.


Capacity Planning and Optimization (15%)

  • Regularly assess system and network capacity to predict future needs and scalability requirements.
  • Recommend system upgrades, enhancements, or new technologies to boost performance, reliability, and security.
  • Develop and execute plans for system and network optimization, aligning with business objectives and industry best practices.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of four years of experience in the same or similar roles
  • Proficiency in operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows Server), networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and security principles.
  • Hands-on experience with network devices (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls) and network management tools.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of independently troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
