Summary

The Foundation for Physical Therapy Research seeks an experienced development professional to join our growing team. The ideal candidate thrives at frontline annual fundraising and is comfortable with a fast-paced work environment; is self-motivated and highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy. The Annual Giving Officer will be responsible for designing and leading annual giving efforts by utilizing data and implementing strategies to (1) expand the total number of donors with a focus of re-engaging lapsed donors and new donor acquisition (2) increase renewals / retention rates; and (3) increase the average gift size.

This position reports to the Manager, Development and regularly collaborates with other fundraising and communication team members to achieve goals.

Essential Functions

  • Manages a pipeline of individual donors with the capacity to give up to $5k and corporate donors up to $10k to cultivate, renew, re-engage, and upgrade annual donors.
  • Fosters relationships.
  • Utilizes a variety of channels including online, monthly, direct mail, email, social / digital campaigns, and volunteer phone solicitations to achieve goals.
  • Works with staff to utilize data, donor segmentation, and wealth screenings to identify, cultivate, and upgrade donors and prospects.
  • In collaboration with the Manager Communications and Marketing, develops and prepares compelling written materials for annual giving appeals and stewardship materials.
  • Develops annual sponsorship opportunities in collaboration with events and development staff; cultivates new donor relationships, creates compelling proposals, and stewards existing corporate partners.
  • Works with the Development Manager to understand funding priorities, campaigns, and projects to determine alignment with potential donors.
  • Generates regular reports on annual giving performance and utilizes data and analytics to refine strategies and improve results.
  • Collaborates with the development team to set annual goals and develop plans to achieve them.
  • Ensures accurate and timely record keeping, donor acknowledgment and stewardship, and action tracking through Raiser’s Edge.
  • Works with development team to create dialogue and collaboration opportunities to strengthen relationships and cultivate a loyal donor base.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent applicable experience required.
  • 3+ years’ progressive fundraising experience in a nonprofit setting.
  • Excellent project management skills. Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience using data-informed donor screening, prospect research, and segmentation practices.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Raiser’s Edge or other nonprofit database experience.
  • Strong creative, strategic and analytical skills.
  • People-centered storytelling approaches to effectively engage the Foundation’s audience, inspire action through giving and advocacy, and advance the mission.
