Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant plays a vital role in the accounting operations of a mid-sized, consulting organization. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, adherence to regulatory standards, inventory management, and providing essential support for financial reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, reconciliations, accruals, and payroll.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and schedules to support internal decision-making and external reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and university policies and procedures.
• Inventory Management
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the finance department and implement appropriate solutions.
• Work closely with colleagues across departments, including procurement, human resources, and academic units, to support financial objectives and initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
• Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software, NetSuite, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
