Job title: Personal Trainer (Full-time - 30 hours/week)
Pay Transparency: $35 - $45 (DOE) for PT session rates and $16/hour for admin work
Role And Responsibilities
The Fitness Specialist/Personal Trainer is responsible for managing the fitness floor, being responsive to members and guests by offering assistance, and educating Active Wellness members on the safe and correct use of cardio and weight training equipment. This person also performs assessments, provides package prescriptions, answers fitness, and wellness-related questions, and sells personal training packages.
Specific Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Sell and deliver personal training sessions to clients
Schedule and conduct member fitness assessments and orientation appointments
Assist members in using safe and effective exercise forms during their workouts
Maintain a clean, safe and orderly fitness floor, racking weights, picking up towels, water bottles, magazines, cleaning equipment, etc.
Support, teach, and encourage members to meet their fitness goals
Work together as a team with all departments
Develop relationships and encourage member referrals
Enforce Active Wellness policies such as cell phone use, etc.
Attend fitness department and fitness training meetings and continuing education classes to keep certifications current
Assist in the development and implementation of new fitness programs/classes
Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance
Work as a TEAM with all other departments
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
Other Functions
Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active Wellness
Promote club services and activities
Assist with keeping the club well stocked and clean
Attend Active Wellness site meetings and training
Handle injury and illness and security incident reporting
Requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements
4-year college degree in exercise science or fitness-related field is a plus
National Personal Training Certification(s) required (see approved Certification, Licenses, and Permits list) as well as modality-specific certifications as required by role (if applicable)
Operational knowledge of resistance training equipment and proper form
Knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics
Knowledge of appropriate exercises for specific muscle groups
Knowledge of injury prevention and basic rehabilitation
Knowledge of basic movement and posture assessments and body composition assessments
Ability to calculate target heart rate
Basic knowledge of nutrition
Must be detail-oriented, organized, and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service
Strong verbal communication skills
Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results-oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industry
AED/CPR/First Aid Certified
Proof of citizenship or legal status
Physical and Working Conditions
Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of others
Ability to stand for several hours in the same shift; ability to lift 25 lbs
Fitness club environment
Must follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standard
