Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP seeks a Patent Assistant for its Silicon Valley office. The Patent Assistant will support members of the Intellectual Property Practice Group focused on patent prosecution and is responsible for assisting legal practice assistants in supporting attorneys and patent agents.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate declarations, and maintain files.
  • Check status of reminders in worksite document management system and reminders for reporting office actions.
  • Communicate with clients regarding status of U.S. assignment documents and U.S. Declarations.
  • Handle assignment recordation.
  • Pay issue fees.
  • Train and review the work of other team members as necessary.
  • Track the status of patent applications.
  • Proofread all work, including reading documents for content and context.
  • Prepare, maintain, scan, and close files.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • An Associate's or Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) is preferred.
  • Prior law firm experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of English grammar, proofreading and English composition skills as well as a disciplined eye for quality checking document accuracy.
  • Excellent computer skills and a strong knowledge of MS Word, Windows, Outlook, Excel and Adobe are required.

COMPENSATION: The national average salary range for this role is $55,000 - $69,700. Starting salary will be determined based on location, qualifications and experience.
