Backbone is looking for a legal intern for the summer of 2024 (with possibility of extension). You will work with the GC and other stakeholders to provide assistance to the legal function while simultaneously obtaining some experience negotiating and reviewing legal documents. We cover a variety of different tasks and areas of practice; the role is perfect for someone with an IP or entertainment background and an interest in a broader commercial practice.
Research: Perform legal research and analysis of contracts, statutes, new and existing legislation and regulatory obligations related to international and domestic operation of our business.
Legal Ops: Assistance with contract management platform implementation and day-to-day operation of the platform. Data review and contract interpretation of existing and new agreements.
Drafting: Drafting and revising of a variety of legal documents, including non-disclosure agreements, sales distribution agreements, consulting agreements and other commercial transactions.
IP: Assistance managing the IP portfolio and working with the IP team to mine, file, and prosecute patent and trademark applications.
Preferred Experience
Must have completed at least one year of US law school.
Some engagement with or understanding of contract management platforms (Docusign, Ironclad, etc.)
Experience reviewing and negotiating NDAs and commercial agreements
Intellectual property interest - ideally you have some patent experience or training
Interest in gaming or entertainment
