The Role

  • Monitoring Regulatory Environment: Staying abreast of regulatory environment changes across multiple jurisdictions including North America, Ireland, the UK, India and Singapore and maintaining a detailed register of this.
  • Policy Development and Review: Develop, review, and update company policies, procedures, and handbooks to ensure compliance with relevant laws.
  • Training and Education: Provide management and employees with training on legal requirements, such as discrimination and harassment prevention, wage and hour laws, and workplace safety regulations.
  • Compliance Audits: Conduct regular audits and assessments of HR practices, policies, and documentation to identify and address compliance gaps or issues.
  • Recordkeeping and Reporting: Ensure accurate recordkeeping of regulated employee information and regulatory filings. Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies as necessary.
  • Legal Liaison: Serve as a liaison between the company and legal counsel on regulatory (including employment) law matters, including representing the company in legal proceedings or investigations as needed.
  • Risk Management: Assess potential legal risks related to operating and employment practices as well as developing strategies to mitigate those risks proactively.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as HR, legal, and compliance, to ensure a holistic approach to compliance and risk management within the organization.
  • Documentation and Communication: Maintain accurate documentation of compliance efforts, communications, and actions taken to address compliance issues. Communicate regularly with senior management to provide updates on compliance initiatives and potential risks.


Who You Are

  • Legal Knowledge: A strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations is essential. This includes laws related to anti-discrimination, wage and hour, employee benefits, occupational health and safety, and employment contracts. International experience is nice to have.
  • Experience: Work experience in HR, employment law, or compliance with prior experience in conducting compliance audits and Federal Contractor / OFCCP requirements.
  • Industry: Experience working with a contingent workforce.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex legal issues, regulations, and policies and apply them to practical organizational situations.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary for drafting policies, communicating legal requirements to stakeholders, conducting training sessions, and representing the company in legal matters.
  • Attention to Detail: Thoroughness and attention to detail are critical for reviewing policies, conducting compliance audits, and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify compliance issues, analyze root causes, and develop practical solutions to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, build stakeholder relationships, and handle sensitive employee relations issues with professionalism and empathy.
  • Ethical Conduct: High ethical standards and integrity are essential for maintaining confidentiality, upholding legal compliance, and fostering trust within the organization.


Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) Degree or an equivalent foreign law degree.


The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $50,000 - $100,000.
