Job Description

The State Attorney's Office Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida is looking for entry level and senior level Legal Assistants to join our team!

This is complex and confidential legal secretarial work. An employee in a position allocated to this class is responsible for performing a variety of secretarial and administrative duties in relieving an Assistant State Attorney of routine and detailed duties. Duties involve the performance of administrative and clerical tasks related to criminal court proceedings, setting up and maintaining attorney’s calendar. Duties also involve screening calls, providing information to the general public, data input and preparing the appropriate motions and orders. An employee assigned to this class has ultimate clerical responsibility for all assigned to the division. Work is performed under the close supervision of a higher- level supervisor or an attorney and is reviewed through conferences for the achievement of desired results.

Minimum Training And Experience

A standard high school diploma or equivalency and two (2) years of secretarial experience or an equivalent combination of both can be substituted for required experience.

You will perform significant recruiting activities to recruit new prosecutors and staff, and also retain existing hires.

Responsibilities:

  • Screen, recruit, and interview potential Assistant State Attorneys
  • Attend job fairs which include various law schools, local and nationwide
  • Assist with on-boarding
  • Implement company culture, values, and policies
  • Provide management with requested reports and documents
  • Accurately maintain employee files

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in human resources, recruiting, or related fields
  • Dynamic speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to seek-out, build and maintain professional relationships
  • Knowledge of labor and employment laws
  • Ability to build rapport with all employees
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Educational Requirements:

  • Must possess an undergraduate degree in Business, Communications or Human Resources.
  • Master’s degree, PHR or SPHR a plus
