Community Legal Aid, Inc. (CLA), the non-profit organization providing free civil legal services to low-income and elderly residents of central and western Massachusetts, seeks a Grants Manager who will secure grants to support CLA's work, manage existing grants, and research new sources of funding. CLA administers over 80 grants from federal, state, local, corporate, and foundation funding sources, and regularly submits proposals for new funding. CLA has a staff of over 160 people who work out of five offices across the region.

The Grants Manager will be an integral member of CLA's management team. The Manager will work with staff in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals and will take the lead on preparing funding applications for government, corporate, and foundation funds; find new grant opportunities to fulfill CLA's mission and analyze them for funding capacity and project match; write and edit grant reports and ensure programmatic compliance with all grants; help maintain a grants management system with invoice and reporting deadlines; and facilitate regular internal grants meetings including discussions regarding grant planning and viability and reviews of upcoming deadlines and past application results. CLA has offices in Northampton, Pittsfield, Springfield, Fitchburg, and Worcester. The Grants Manager will be based in one of CLA's offices and will be required to spend at least one day per week in CLA's headquarters in Worcester.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous experience in successfully developing grant proposals in a non-profit setting as well as supervision, administration, and/or management of grant processes strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Salesforce strongly preferred, as is knowledge of web-based prospect search tools.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to a wide range of audiences and the ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
  • Comfort with quantitative and qualitative data, including the ability to use data in support of grant design and administration.
  • Ability to work well on a team, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.

COMPENSATION: Salary depends on experience, but the expected range is $75,000-$100,000. CLA offers a very generous benefits package that includes 401(k) with employer-paid contribution; low-cost health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) for employees and their dependents; paid leave (4 weeks vacation, 3 personal days, 12 sick days, and 13 holidays); and relocation stipend. CLA has a hybrid work environment and requires staff to work in their assigned office at least three days per week.
