Facilities Manager

The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) is a public Career and Technical Education District (CTED) providing tuition-free career and technical education (CTE) programs to high school students – public, charter, and home-schooled – and tuition-based programs to adults who reside in 11 school districts in the East Valley of the Phoenix metropolitan area.

EVIT offers over 40 CTE programs at four centralized campuses. Centralized campus programs provide two to four hours of hands-on training every day and prepare students for professional certification and licensing exams. EVIT students who complete their training have a 98 percent high school graduation rate and 90 percent on average are in jobs related to their training, college or the military within a year. Two out of three EVIT students go on to college.

Applications are being accepted for the position of Facilities Manager for EVIT's Main campus located at 1601 W. Main Street, Mesa, AZ 85201. This is a full-time, 12 month position, the salary range is $77,010 - $99,342 you will be placed within the range dependent upon education and like experience.

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Associate Chief Operations Officer, the Facilities Manager will manage to the day-to-day operations of building maintenance, custodial, grounds, utilities, energy management systems, safety/security systems in order to provide a safe, healthy and comfortable environment for students, staff and the public. The Facilities Manager is responsible for scheduling and the supervision of all maintenance and repair activities and other contracted services. This position will help ensure the facilities department meets its operational and fiscal responsibility of providing excellent building and grounds maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building trades, Architecture, Construction, Facilities Management or closely related field; and
  • A minimum of five years (5) of progressively responsible experience in building construction, maintenance or inspection work with specialized training in HVAC/R systems, plumbing, carpentry, structural, mechanical or electrical work, and grounds maintenance and three years (3) shall have been in a supervisory capacity; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to provide the applicant with the knowledge, skills and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the job will be considered.

Licensing /Certification and Other Requirements:

  • Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Verified Prints (IVP) fingerprint clearance card.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s license and three-year clean driving record presented at hire.
  • Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles and rubella if born after January 1, 1957.

ADA and Other Requirements:

  • Work is generally performed in both an office environment and an outdoor environment, with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Frequent walking, standing, climbing, lifting, stooping, or carrying of equipment and materials may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Incumbent may be exposed to extreme temperatures, close quarter situations, high and precarious places, moving mechanical parts, fumes, dust, gasses, pressurized water systems, loud noises and vibrations. Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crawling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, fingering, standing, walking, pushing, reaching, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. This position may use electric and gas power tools. This position may be required to drive as part of performing essential job functions.
