Events & Rigging Supervisor

What You Get To Do

  • Oversee the technical aspects of events for all three Orlando parks.
  • Lead a team to install all specialized rigging, staging, safety, and inspection programs in compliance with SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment and industry standards.
  • Organize and oversee all third-party inspections and implement timely corrections.
  • Collaborate with contractors to assist in design specifications for event related projects.
  • Collaborate with various production teams and project leaders on efficiency and effectiveness of Rigging/Safety/Scenic Carpentry project ideas to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Oversee outside contractors, theater facilities and equipment maintenance procedures.
  • Prepare team members and contractor schedules, and schedule specialized training for technicians.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and systems.
  • Document, track, and report equipment useful life to leadership and park teams.
  • Monitor expense and labor budgets for assigned area.
  • Develop and oversee Rigging/Safety project timelines to ensure park and departmental goals, safety targets and objectives are obtained.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as required or requested.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years professional supervisory experience preferred.
  • 2 years professional technical entertainment and/or theatrical technical work experience preferred.
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre, Theatre Arts, Technical Design, or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Specialty training in technical direction, theatre rigging preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good negotiation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to lift, push and pull up to 75 pounds using safe practices.
  • Able to work at heights up to 150 feet.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of entertainment technical production standards including OSHA and NEC construction standards, ESTA Rigging standards, and lift equipment training standards.
  • Be familiar with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) fire and safety codes.
  • Should have experience operating heavy equipment, to include forklifts, scissor lifts and boom lifts.
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain a company driver’s license.
  • Must be available to work varying shifts/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; nights, weekends, and holidays.

What Else Is Important

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 75 pounds using safe practices
  • Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift
  • Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing)
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather, to include extreme heat
  • Consistently practice safe work habits including the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and reporting unsafe situations
  • Ability to successfully complete all legal, company and department training requirements within established timelines
