Salary Range: $76,800 - $135,900(SCS-I)

Work Location Type: Remote (Working less than 60% on-site depending on business needs)

What Your Job Will Be Like

The EPSCI Computer Scientist will work on development of a Calibration Dependency Framework for Streaming Readout systems. The framework will be software and procedures used to describe complex calibration dependencies including multiple cyclic dependencies. The framework will automate the calibration processes and flag as complete when the calibration is fully complete for a particular data set or set an alert upon unrecoverable failure. Will be expected to work with Physicists, Computer Scientists, and other domain experts to design and implement the system.

In This Role You Will

  • Code in C++, Python, and bash shell script.
  • Assist in calibrating large, complex Nuclear Physics detectors.
  • Collaborative code development using GitHiub.
  • Documentation of software aimed at non-computer scientists.
  • Work with scientists and help them implement their own software within the framework.

Education

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or related field.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to program in C++ is essential.
  • Experience with complex detectors used in Nuclear Physics Experiments.
  • Working knowledge of Linux.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with git and GituHub.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or related field, preferred.
  • At least two years' experience in the use and administration of Linux systems in an academic, scientific, or engineering environment. highly preferred.
