Summary

Responsible for daily cleaning and sanitizing of patient rooms and all other corresponding unit areas. Will follow prescribed departmental cleaning standards in conjunction with infection control and safety procedures. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

  • 3 months – 1 year of environmental services experience in a hospital organizations

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Physical Demands

  • Capable of operating heavy cleaning equipment such as floor machines, wet/dry vacuums, scrubbers and burnishes, etc.
  • Ability to operate heavy cleaning equipment, stand and walk 67-100% of working day.
  • Ability to climb and kneel 34-66% of working day.
  • Ability to carry/lift items 10-25lbs 11-33%, 20-50lbs 34-66%, 50-75lbs 1-10% of working day.
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, pull climb, push throughout daily work to complete assigned schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Sweeps, dust mops, and wet mops.
  • Vacuums, spot cleans walls, cleans glass / ledges.
  • Sanitizes patient room surfaces, sanitizes bathroom.
  • Performs discharge cleaning of patient rooms.
  • Cleans equipment and notifies the supervisor or lead person of equipment requiring repair. Reports safety hazards to supervisor or lead person.
  • Collects trash from patient rooms, nurses stations, ancillary areas.
  • Cleans and sanitizes ancillary areas/
  • Assists in cleaning of emergency spills observed or reported.
  • Performs any other tasks, which may be assigned by the supervisor or lead person.
