Director of Financial Reporting
Key Responsibilities
SEC Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and filing of SEC reports, including 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K forms.
- Ensure compliance with SEC regulations and reporting standards.
- Coordinate with external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits.
Goodwill Accounting:
- Manage goodwill impairment testing and valuation.
- Ensure accurate recording and reporting of goodwill in financial statements.
Policy Writing:
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP and SEC regulations.
- Update and maintain the company’s financial reporting policies and manuals.
Flux Analysis:
- Conduct flux analysis to identify and explain significant variances in financial statements.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management based on variance analysis.
Stock Compensation:
- Manage the accounting and reporting of stock-based compensation.
- Ensure compliance with ASC 718 and other relevant regulations.
- Prepare and review stock compensation expense calculations and related disclosures.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of financial reporting professionals.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance team.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments, including Legal, Investor Relations, and Corporate Development, to support various financial reporting needs.
- Serve as a key liaison with external auditors and consultants.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification is required; an advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Accounting) is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in finance and accounting, with a focus on SEC reporting.
- Proven expertise in goodwill accounting, policy writing, flux analysis, and stock compensation.
- Prior experience in a publicly traded company or a Big 4 accounting firm is highly desirable.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and SEC regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in financial reporting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
