Position: Director of Constituent Services


Job Summary: The Director of Constituent Services leads the office’s constituent services work, handling and resolving cases, connecting residents to services and resources, and identifying emerging community issues. This team member also helps manage the district office's operations and participates in community outreach and engagement activities.


Responsibilities:

  • Meet with and respond to constituent requests for help resolving problems or for assistance in receiving services, products, or benefits from federal, state, local, or private sector providers.
  • Oversee constituent management system, including intake, tracking, follow-up, and resolution of constituent issues.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including local, state, and federal officials, government agencies, and community organizations.
  • Communicate across municipal, state, and federal agencies, advocacy groups, and local and statewide organizations to address constituent concerns and problems.
  • Run and review bi-monthly constituent casework reports; identify trends in casework to pinpoint organizational issues or needed policies.
  • Attend meetings of neighborhood associations, community groups/organizations, and State and/or City officials or agencies, which may include evening and weekend work.
  • Assist with office administration and reception, including but not limited to answering phones, ordering office supplies, and greeting visitors to the office. 
  • Prepare and draft letters, citations, resolutions, and other documents for constituents and special events.
  • Attend district events with the Assemblymember or on their behalf.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Manage potential interns/students conducting casework.

  • Research and decision-making skills, with the ability to proactively find solutions, work independently, and collaborate across a small team.
  • Temperament to communicate with a variety of individuals in a professional manner.
  • Understanding of or experience with government agencies (county, state, and federal) and/or public programs such as SNAP.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to treat confidential information with appropriate discretion.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the communities of the district.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically.
  • Ability to work with basic office computer applications.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in community organizing, constituent services, customer service, advocacy or social work.
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing Spanish, with the ability to effectively communicate.
  • Familiarity with basic office computer applications and social media platforms.


Location:


·        This position is based in the Bronx. Occasional travel within New York City is required.

  • Occasionally flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.


Salary & Benefits

This is a full-time, overtime-exempt position with a salary consummate with experience. Minimum salary will be provided during the interview process. This position offers health, vision + dental insurance and a retirement plan. The position also comes with sick days, vacation days, personal time, and state holidays.
