Position Overview:

As part of the Global Innovation Policy Center (GIPC), the director will play an active role in the strategic planning of the center and lead GIPC’s domestic engagement in key policy areas. The director will assist with the strategy, development, and management of work on a broad range of domestic IP policy issues, including patents, copyrights, trade secrets, and innovation policy. The director will also be responsible for coordinating GIPC’s domestic Hill engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on a broad range of domestic IP policy issues.
  • Serve as ambassador and advocate of the GIPC brand with Capitol Hill Offices.
  • Lead administration engagement on key IP policy issues.
  • Help implement the Chamber’s Discover & Deliver and Create & Connect Campaigns, aimed at telling the story of America’s innovative life science industries and content creators, respectively.
  • Play a role in GIPC and Chamber member management.
  • Lead and manage the domestic operations of the echo chamber, an effort aimed at building partnerships with select national organizations, state-level officials, academics, and other stakeholders to help advance pro-IP messages with key audiences in Washington, D.C.
  • Identify new and creative ways to deliver pro-IP messages to various audiences around the country and ensure that these messages echo back to Capitol Hill and the administration.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy in key states to engage audiences and stakeholders to promote the importance of IP to jobs, the economy, and America’s competitiveness.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative team environment focused on achieving GIPC’s objectives.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience commensurate with the role.
  • 7+ years’ experience in federal government affairs.
  • Ability to understand complex and changing political and issue environments.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and executing strategic plans through a variety of tactics.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to understand and analyze a range of legal issues.
  • Experience managing a range of external stakeholders, including government officials, industry representatives, and third-party groups.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Able to handle confidential information professionally and discreetly and interact effectively with senior executives.


The salary range for this position is $114,125.00 to $140,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits including healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
