The Contract Attorney serves primarily as a legal information resource on contract law and organizational procurement related issues. This position reviews, drafts, negotiates, and facilitates execution of healthcare and transaction-related agreements. These agreements include a wide variety of technology agreements, including software licensing, technology outsourcing, hardware purchases, maintenance and support arrangements, technology outsourcing, SaaS and other cloud transactions. Responsibilities include working directly with hospital departments, including Finance, Information Technology, Corporate Compliance, and Patient Safety and Quality Improvement to ensure all agreements on behalf of hospital are consistent with privacy and data protection law, cloud regulations as well as hospital’s budgets, risk and insurance standards and regulatory compliance issues, and clinical requirements. Negotiates food/facilities services, recruitment, marketing, finance and accounting, human resources, confidentiality agreements, business associate agreement, and leases; prepares and manages RFPs, ensuring procurement practices are compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, organizational bond and lease obligations. Assist internal business clients in the resolution of contract-related business disputes. Supports hospital procurement process and serves as a legal and regulatory contract compliance information resource in the negotiation and drafting of complex documents. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Education: Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school and in satisfactory standing to practice law in the State of Florida required.
Experience: Three (3) years contracts/transactional experience preferred.
Three (3) years’ legal experience specializing in contract and/or transactional law preferred; experience in a procurement/ purchasing or decision support analyst role with healthcare related experience in drafting, negotiating, and implementing contracts that ensure healthcare law compliance is required.
Computer literate, and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal verbal communication and advanced writing skills inclusive of contract drafting and ability to finalize draft scope agreements is required.
