Job Summary

The Continuous Improvement Director (Lean) will drive the organization’s multiple value streams, holding area value stream leaders accountable to achieve monthly and annual targets on speed (service), quality, cost, safety, and other key performance targets leveraging Lean methodologies in a fast-paced environment. This Leader will oversee the LPO (Lean Promotional Office) and will have a strong blend of both strategic and tactical approaches to operational and business objectives, leveraging their experience to drive culture change via credibility, influence and leadership by example.

  • Lead, drive and sustain cultural and technical changes necessary to make Mark Andy a world class Lean manufacturer
  • Responsible for managing and facilitating the entire organization’s Lean transformation initiative and strategy
  • Manage and guide the Lean Promotional Office Coordinator
  • Work at all levels of the organization, employing a hands-on skill set to create value and buy-in with a “lead by example” nature.
  • Serve as key change facilitator within the plant, supporting management / cross functional decisions by communicating the plant-wide changes to employees and helping them to learn, understand, adjust and grow the Lean transformation
  • Provide leadership / mentoring / training to all levels on the use and practice of Lean enterprise methodology and tools creating a culture of continuous improvement
  • Leverage demand management and supply chain knowledge.
  • Responsible for measuring the effectiveness of continuous improvement efforts and report the results monthly.
  • Challenges “status Quo” of the plant's current processes / procedures and facilitate the teams in the effective use of such Lean tools as Waste Identification / Reduction, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Set-up Reduction, Problem-Solving, Standard Work, etc. in support organization’s Lean Enterprise initiative.
  • Support plant operations management in the development, planning and execution of the Lean strategy and metrics providing support to process owners to clearly link project metrics to strategic operational objectives using Business Process Management principles
  • Plan and assist with the execution of various Lean transformation events and projects targeted towards improving the plant’s performance on safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Focus on business performance improvements that yield zero accidents, defect free products, on demand and on time delivery, at the lowest cost by partnering with the plant’s process owners and champions to drive results
  • Focus on business performance that constantly strives to eliminate waste, improve customer satisfaction, and increase market share via the use of Lean methodologies
  • Organize and facilitate kaizen activities on the shop floor and in administrative offices as needed to support value stream improvement plans

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively to direct and motivate team and others

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business; MBA or MS Advanced Degree preferred
  • 10 years of increasing responsibility value stream leadership in manufacturing roles
  • Experience as the leader of at least 3 significant value stream improvement projects that demonstrate the ability to reduce waste and improve cycle times from incoming raw materials to finished goods shipping
  • Strong financial acumen - understanding of operating costs and P&L measures
  • Experience driving and implementing Lean culture and methodologies in an industrial product environment
  • Advanced Training in Lean Manufacturing, VSM, Six Sigma, 5s, SMED, and other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt Certification from ASQ or a similar certifying body
  • Oracle functional training as needed
  • Quality Indoctrination Training
  • Lean Bronze Certification

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Climate controlled office environment, no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like. May have limited exposure to manufacturing areas that require the usage of PPE.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequently required to sit. Occasional walking, standing, stooping and kneeling. Frequently lift up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
