The Position
The Benefits Specialist will be a trusted contributor of the People & Culture team. Within the team, the Benefits Specialist will be responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, and 401(k).
Specific Responsibilities
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information
- Performs quality checks of benefits-related data
- Assists Team Members regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes
- Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility
- Processes new enrollments within HRIS system and processes life status changes
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and Team Members on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries
- Assists with leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA as needed
- Assists with worker’s compensation injuries and claims as needed
- Can effectively interpret FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities
- Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and Team Members relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
- Assists with the annual open enrollment process
- Reconciles monthly vendor billing
- Assists with new hospital integrations as it pertains to benefits
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Knowledge of Paycor, our HRIS software, is beneficial.
- Ability to carry out tasks with a very high attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Team player.
