Title: Associate Director of Admissions

Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Associate Director will be involved in all aspects of the Hartwick College admission process: managing a recruitment territory, travel, assisting with organizing special events, coordinating with alumni volunteers, interviewing prospective students, reviewing applications, supporting student ambassadors and tele-counselors, and other duties as assigned. The Associate Director assists in the training and mentorship of new employees and in the continual training and professional development of all admissions staff.
The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to relate to a broad range of constituents (students, parents, alumni, high school counselors, etc.), an appreciation for and sensitivity to a variety of backgrounds and traditions from which students may come, and the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities:
Minimum requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with between five and seven years of experience in an admissions office or similar position/field.
Pay Range: $55,277 -$65,000 annual salary

Responsibilities:
- Traveling within a defined territory to visit high schools, attend college fairs and conferences
- Reading and evaluating applications and participating in the selection of candidates for admission including authority to make admit and deny decisions
- Interviewing prospective candidates on and off-campus
- Conducting information sessions
- Designing communication plans to prospective students through the admissions funnel, ultimately leading to enrollment
- Answering admission inquiries from prospective students, parents, high school counselors, and others
- Planning and implementing various on and off-campus programs and initiatives
- Building and maintaining relationships with high schools and community-based organizations
- Responsible for assisting in the training and mentorship of new admissions staff
- Assist in the continual training and professional development of all admissions counselors
- Assist in the management of the College’s participation in the Tuition Exchange Program
- Assist in the execution of International and Transfer student recruitment and communication plan
- Serving as liaison with other campus offices and/or departments
- Working with alumni admission volunteers
- Supporting of day-to-day admission processes
- Other duties as assigned
- Participation in significant campus events, including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend
- Expected to comply with all applicable College, Federal, State, local and associational laws, rules and regulations
- As a representative of the College, expected to comport oneself in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus
Minimum requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with between five and seven years of experience in an admissions office or similar position/field.
- Clean driving record and a valid driver’s license
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Technical expertise including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc)
- Must be adept with social media
- Must have a willingness to learn new software
- Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague is preferred
- Employee is required to conduct multiple visits to off-site locations on any single day
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. While conducting territory travel, the employee is responsible for moving personal items and promotional materials to college fairs and high school visits
