Assistant Professor of Instruction or Practice, Business Law

Position Description

The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Management in the David W. Wilson College of Business seeks applications for an annually renewable term Assistant Professor of Instruction or Practice beginning August 2024. The successful candidate will have an interest and expertise in teaching courses such as Legal and Social Environment of Business, Business Law, and Employment and Labor Law. The instructor will teach four sections per semester and contribute to substantial service responsibilities. This position is not eligible to be fully remote.

The Management Department is home to five majors: Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, Management (with two emphases - Business Administration and Organizational Leadership), Human Resource Management, and Supply Chain Management. Education Requirements

A Juris Doctor degree (JD) from a nationally or internationally recognized university required.

Required Qualifications

Admission to a state bar and current licensure; experience practicing law; evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to create an intellectually challenging learning environment; ability to teach on UNI's campus and ability to teach a course asynchronously online required.

Desirable Qualifications

Previous stand-alone teaching experience; an interest in teaching in the area of employment law and business law; an MBA or appropriate Ph.D.; and experience practicing law in business, labor, and employment law preferred.
