Job Description

Under the direction of the Manager, responsible for the administration of closely held business assets, including corporate stock, limited partnership units and limited liability company units, held in a fiduciary capacity with Bank of Hawaii. This position also provides business valuation, financial analysis, and advisory special services for both fiduciary and nonfiduciary business owner clients. May also assist with the administration and oversight of real estate held in fiduciary accounts. Ensures business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

Responsibilities

Assists with generating revenue for the Bank by providing fiduciary and non-fiduciary bank and non-bank clients with business valuation and business exit planning/ advisory special services for a fee. Provides gift, estate, business succession and exit planning advice for business owner clients. Assists with business development, client meetings, proposals, and engagement work product and flow.

Assists with the administration of the three primary areas of portfolio management including asset acceptance, annual investment (asset) reviews, and business valuation/financial analysis. Assists with the day-to-day operations of the closely held business interests in fiduciary accounts. Oversees services provided for these assets by outside vendors such as attorneys and other consultants.

Responsible for the administration of closely held business interests in fiduciary accounts in accordance with governing trust documents and in compliance with applicable Bank of Hawaii policies and procedures and external regulatory authorities. May also assist with oversight and administration of real estate interests held in fiduciary accounts. Acts as the subject matter expert for the division.

Assists with business valuations, financial analysis, and business interest transactions (i.e. sale, redemption, acquisition) which may include transaction analysis, business valuation, marketing, negotiation, and document preparation.

Qualifications

Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with a relevant major (ie: finance, accounting) from an accredited institution and interest in pursuing a business valuation certification (e.g. ASA, ABV, CFA). CPA, JD, or MBA degree(s) preferred but not required.
  • Experience:
  • Level I: Minimum 3 to 5 years of related work experience. Proficient in financial analysis & modeling, and has knowledge of valuation approaches, methodologies, and procedures for various business sectors for various purposes. General knowledge of corporate and partnership income taxation, as well as closely held corporations preferred.
  • Level II: Minimum 5 to 6 years of related work experience. Proficient in financial analysis & modeling, and has knowledge of valuation approaches, methodologies, and procedures for various business sectors for various purposes. General knowledge of corporate and partnership income taxation, as well as closely held corporations preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and SharePoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use bank software.
  • Other Job Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and organizational skill with attention to detail and good memory. Interested in all aspects of closely held business interests and business valuation. Able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as needed or assigned.
