Job Summary:

As an Admissions Mentor, you will work with small cohorts of students, guiding them through the entire college admissions process. Success in this role means helping students identify suitable schools, crafting compelling essays, and securing admissions and scholarships. You will be a crucial part of our team, providing one-on-one support and personalized advice to students, ensuring they achieve their educational goals.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage Student Caseload: Support students throughout the college application process, from research to matriculation.
  • Educational Workshops: Conduct group workshops.
  • Financial Aid and Scholarship Assistance: Guide students through the financial aid process, identify and help them apply for scholarship opportunities.
  • Skill Building: Help students recognize their strengths and develop both academic and personal skills.
  • Essay Support: Assist students in crafting, developing, revising, and submitting essays and personal statements.
  • Career Exploration: Help students define their career aspirations to facilitate college selection.
  • Roadmap Development: Collaborate with students to develop tailored college roadmaps that align with their individual needs and preferences.
  • College Research: Research and identify suitable colleges and universities.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as required to support student success.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required
  • Preferred Experience: Background in college admissions, or degrees in English, Communications, or related fields.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of the college application process and a passion for supporting students.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a College Counselor is preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with parents, students, faculty, and support staff.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, organize, and implement meetings involving a variety of topics and personnel.


Position Requirements:

  • All academic advisors receive extensive support and training.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
