Overview Of Position

This job has primary responsibility for the management and leadership of the Reconciliation Center of Excellence (Recon CoE). The manager will be assigned one business segment with multiple business lines and products below that segment. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this role has responsibility and accountability for managing the day-to-day activities, deliverables, and associated cross-functional and strategic initiatives for responsible business segment. This role will establish and maintain strong partnership with internal teams as well as external stakeholders. Strong focus on establishing processes and procedures to ensure quality and effective controls are in place for areas of functional responsibilities. This includes but not limited to ensuring the delivery of accurate balance sheet reconciliations, develop and maintain documentation/SOPs for the reconciliation process, driving standardization and enhancements for the reconciliation process for areas of responsibility and ensuring reconciliations are performed according to policy for entire business segment of responsibility.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Lead, manage, coach, and develop a virtual accounting team of both on and offshore resources for entire business segment. Manager will have the responsibility to coaching and developing people managers and/or staff
  • Provide guidance and direction on reconciliation requirements for areas of responsibility
  • Strong networking and relationship building with business and operational stakeholders
  • Partner with segment controllership, for area of responsibility, to provide financial analysis and insights related to the reconciliation portfolio on a routine basis (minimum quarterly)
  • Accountable for varying complexities of balance sheet reconciliations both (onshore and offshore). Will be responsible to approve reconciliations across the entire segment of responsibility for all staff members including Supervisors
  • Demonstrate an understanding of related upstream/downstream processes and inter-dependencies related to all balance sheet reconciliations for related segment
  • Developing, enhancing, monitoring, and executing key financial metrics and management reporting
  • Manage projects and initiatives including but not limited to, system integrations, acquisitions, and process improvement
  • >15% Travel

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • BA or BS in Accounting, CPA strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of related general accounting experience, insurance preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience
  • Recent experience with managing a high volume of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Demonstrated working with Oracle ERP or other ERP tools
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel, word, and power point
  • Proficiency in analytical skills: gather & analyze data, identify trends and differences, communicate the impact or story appropriately, and ensure relevant resolution for all activities
  • Leading and/or supporting transformational initiatives
  • Strong collaboration, delegation, and partnering skills


Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of US GAAP, STAT, internal controls, financial reporting and data analysis and trending preferred
  • Understanding of progressive accounting practices and procedures
  • Blackline or other reconciliation tool usage a plus
  • Proficient knowledge of regulatory requirements (i.e., SOX, audits)
  • Working in an enterprise center of excellence environment a plus
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Adhere to strict timelines for recurring deliverables such as quarter-end close activities which may require extended working hours during those periods


What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Microsoft BI Reporting / Cubes a plus
  • Public accounting and/or Audit experience a plus


Pay Range

$84,100.00 - $140,500.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
