Honored to have served on the University of Virginia The Ridley Scholarship Fund board of directors for the past two years. Ridley awards scholarships to attract the nation’s brightest Black students to UVA. To make Ridley more compelling to sought-after high schoolers, I wanted every recipient to receive life-enriching experiences like I had at UVA. After much benchmarking, empathy interviewing, and socializing with key stakeholders, we launched the RSX fund to elevate the scholar experience. Starting this Fall, every recipient will not only receive a full-tuition & fees scholarship but have access to:
    · Echols or Rodman scholarship-UVA’s most prestigious merit-based awards given to first year CLAS or SEAS students which include designated housing, academic flexibility, priority enrollment, advising resources & year-round events
    · Study abroad
    · Participation in the world-renowned NOLS
    · Funding for unpaid research, civic or non-profit summer internships
    · Year-round programming
We also created a new staff position, RSX program director, to support this effort. So proud of the work we accomplished particularly in light of recent racial incidents in this country. To learn more about Ridley or donate, visit: https://lnkd.in/dJ4hQJt
