It was my goal to emphasize the positive intentions of the initial version of the Crips (Community Revolutionary Inter-party Service) to the young people that perpetuate the negative stereotypes and methodologies they've been wrongly taught and have lost many loved ones to.

I trained for 100 hours before being able to actually interact with the children, learning various games and activities for the camp experience. Peninsula Clean Energy, the community-led electricity provider, has a mission to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in its service territory which includes County of San Mateo, and shortly, the city of Los Banos. PCE’s goal is to be carbon neutral by 2035, 10 years ahead of the state, which Peninsula Clean Energy aims to support through investment in local community programs. Transportation emissions are the most significant challenge to deep decarbonization in San Mateo County. These emissions account for about 50% of direct emissions within the County. 🔍 As part of PCE's Fleet Advisory Program, Clean energy experts Optony tasked The Mobility House with simulating the following constraints and considerations at each facility: - Expected unmanaged charging load per site. - Optimal charging schedule and load based on vehicle routes and local utility rate provided by customer. - Charging cost estimation for optimal and unmanaged charging. - Minimum infrastructure requirements including number, size and number of chargers, and the physical grid interconnection needs. - Assessing these factors for multiple phases of electrification over 10+ years, providing an important perspective on scaling up, step-by-step. 📉 Deliverables included: - 15 minute load data per site for a 24h period for both unmanaged and managed charging loads. Applied Marine Sciences Inc.
AMS has been supporting the Alameda Countywide Clean Water Program (ACCWP), the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit holder for Alameda County, in its efforts to protect the County’s aquatic resources since the late 1990s. Over this time, AMS has conducted a wide variety of studies that have focused on different resources, management concerns, and potential environmental effects. One consistent area of focus over this time has concerned the presence of legacy contaminants in old industrial areas of Alameda County and their possible contribution to identified impairments of San Francisco Bay. AMS’ efforts in the late 1990s and early 2000s were some of the first studies that showed an ability to link elevated concentrations of legacy contaminants to individual parcels by comparing investigation results against background levels of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and mercury found in urban areas. Results of these investigations were used to identify a number of properties that were abated through a combination of private, local governmental, and regulatory agency efforts. AMS just completed a new round of studies that are moving this parcel-by-parcel investigation to a larger scale to assess wider swaths of our urban area. This summer, AMS conducted sampling in 44 geographic zones representing over 1,000 acres of old industrial areas in Emeryville and Oakland. For these investigations, we will again compare results across the various sampled zones to identify outliers that indicate areas that may be contributing disproportionate loads of mercury and PCBs. Analytical results are expected back in August 2024 and follow-up actions will be determined at that time.

CalRecycle is now accepting applications for $40 million in redemption innovation technology grants on top of $15 million in workforce development grants rolling out this year to build the future of recycling in California. The state will also promote workforce development in this space through the California Jobs First Council (https://lnkd.in/gXnvQJPf) The state recently released draft regulations for Governor Gavin Newsom’s “Plastic Pollution Prevention and Packaging Producer Responsibility Act” (SB 54, enacted in 2022), kicking off the formal rule-making process. “For too long, plastic polluters have passed the buck on the growing burden of plastic waste contaminating the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat,” said Governor Newsom. “California is leading the way to hold producers responsible, drive sustainable innovation and green jobs, and support the most impacted communities. We have to act now, with urgency, to give our kids a future without plastic pollution.” This law requires the following by 2032: * Sell 25% less single-use plastic packaging and food ware in the state. * Make all single-use packaging and plastic food-ware recyclable or compostable. * Recycle 65% of single-use plastic packaging and food ware.
