🌟 Calling All Vendors! Maximize Your Success at the Mentor Protégé Program Summit 🌟 Are you attending the upcoming Mentor-Protégé Program (MPP) Summit in Detroit this week, hosted by the DoD Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP), for invaluable learning and networking? Here’s how to make the most of the MPP: Note: these tips can be used for any industry engagement. Networking Do's: - Craft a strong profile and capability statement highlighting your company’s qualifications. - Research the speakers, agencies, and primes attending. Familiarize yourself with their needs. - Prepare a 45-second introduction to present your business. - Bring copies of your Capability Statement and business cards or use a QR Code link. - Be relaxed and confident during interactions. - Respect the schedule. Be punctual and considerate. - Be brief and to the point about your products and services. Networking Don'ts: - Avoid challenging the agency’s practices. - Don’t inquire about active solicitations or past procurements. - Don’t be negative about others: businesses, government or commercial people. (the world is small and #govcon circles are smaller) Evaluating Potential Teaming Partners: 1. Define Needs and Expectations: Clearly state what you need from a partner. 2. Research and Due Diligence: Check the partner’s background and reputation. 3. Evaluate Values and Culture: Ensure alignment with your values. 4. Assess Track Record: Look at their history with similar businesses. 5. Communication and Transparency: Ensure they are open and responsive. 6. Mutual Goals and Vision: Share long-term goals. 7. Resource and Capability Assessment: Evaluate their resources. 8. Risk Management: Discuss potential risks and plans. 9. Legal Clarity: Document all agreements clearly. 10. Pilot Project: Start with a small project to test the partnership. Final Tips: - Be proactive and strategic in networking. Common Misconceptions: see complete article here by Nicole Pottroff https://lnkd.in/ebeP9H75 Misconception #1: “Any JV must have an SBA-approved MPA in place.” Correction: An SBA-approved MPA is only required if a partner is large for that contract’s size standard. Misconception #2: “SBA prohibits finding affiliation with an SBA-approved MPA.” Correction: Affiliation may be found for reasons other than assistance under an SBA-approved MPA. Check out Steven Koprince latest on MPP: https://lnkd.in/euTbuBtR SBA List of active MPP agreements: https://lnkd.in/e7t74MZu 📅 Prepare to elevate your business at the MPP Summit. In October 2023, the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) designated 31 Regional Technology and Innovation Hubs (Tech Hubs). This summer, the EDA expects to award implementation grants of $40-$70 million to each of approximately five to ten of these 31 regional coalitions. The goal: grow innovation clusters that enhance national security, improve supply chain resilience, and bolster America’s position as a global leader in technology. The federal government has invested in innovation for decades, including at much larger sums than the Tech Hubs’ program’s initial $500 millionallotment. But the program is notable because it is designed to deliver investments in ways that avoid replicating the highly unequal economic, demographic, and geographic outcomes present in America’s current innovation economy. In fact, the EDA has made equity and inclusion an explicit priority, calling for regional coalitions to design strategies that intentionally invest in historically underserved communities—both urban and rural—to activate the full potential of their innovation economy. #InclusiveInnovation
