Here's how you can convey the importance of marketing analytics to colleagues without technical expertise.
Data is king. As a business owner, it's incredibly important to be making decisions based on real-world data, as opposed to hunches, which can potentially be skewed by personal biases. At Dub.co, we're launching a new Conversion Tracking product that helps marketing teams understand exactly how their content & marketing efforts are converting to revenue dollars. We use a 3-step tracking process – "Clicks → Leads → Sales" to visualize the customer journey. This gives a clear picture of how users are interacting with your content and what pathways they take to eventually sign up as a customer.

The way we track conversions at Dub is very straightforward – we have 3 different events: click, lead and sale. Click – when a user clicks on a Dub-powered short link. Lead – when a user signs up from an account after clicking on a Dub-powered short link. Sale – when a user upgrades to a paid plan after signing up for an account. This allows marketing teams to visualize the full customer journey and understand how their marketing efforts are translating to revenue dollars.

Here's how you can convey the importance of marketing analytics to colleagues without technical expertise.
We recently shipped a "Conversion Tracking" feature on Dub.co that visualizes the full customer journey after they click on a Dub-powered short link – from signing up for an account (lead event) all the way to subscribing to a paid plan (sale event). The results have been incredibly eye-opening. What used to be a black box – e.g. posting a link on LinkedIn and hoping it drove some signups – is now clear as day. This allows us to make better decisions as to what kind of content we should be investing more in – as shown by real-world conversion data. I highly recommend marketing teams rely more on data when making decisions.
