Part THREE of the biggest mistakes newer insurance agency owners make. Passive marketing. When you open your agency, it is fun trying new things to grow. The options are bountiful. People are trying to sell you systems and leads. Everyone has the BEST way to get in front of your target audience. You are exposed to a new language. Clicks, impressions, pixels, retargeting, etc. The only metric you really need to be concerned about, is premium written. I have wasted my share of money on things that people told me, scratch that, SOLD me would be a game changer for my business. They told me it would to one thing and it did not do that one thing. I started asking other agents if they use the thing that I was being sold and it stopped almost all of that spending. In the beginning, do not do any passive marketing. Don't buy a billboard. Don't buy an ad in a local magazine. Don't go on a golf course score card. Don't you dare put your face in a grocery cart. You will spend $1000's of dollars on nothing. And don't talk yourself into if by saying, "It's good for branding". This is a great way to waste money. You have your entire career to brand. The best way to brand? Say what you're going to do, and then doing what you say. The branding will take care of itself when everyone is referring to you because you are awesome at what you do. Best thing to do with that money? Invest in yourself. Invest in ways to help you write business TODAY. Question. What are some ways that you have spent money wisely?
