NEW YORK CARES PROVIDES A SMARTER WAY TO VOLUNTEER.
In the days before New York Cares, volunteering was unnecessarily complicated. The organization's founders believed that individuals can make a real difference in improving NYC only if they have the necessary tools, which are the same ones that enable the most successful businesses to achieve scale and impact - planning, logistics, measurement, quality control, and customer relationship management. New York Cares has infused volunteerism with business acumen to enable anyone who volunteers through our programs to have an impact on New York City.
    Loved volunteering at:
    - Feed 1.2 million New Yorkers (100,000 meals to hurricane victims) food packing at 911day.org event on the Battleship Intrepid (best one yet!)
    - Shepherding middle schoolers through the Moving Image Museum
    - Bingo with senior uptown at 191st Street center (OMG so much fun)

The Handbook on the Future of Work and Entrepreneurship for the Underserved offers a unique overview of the future of work and entrepreneurship for underserved communities. Technological disruptions and post -Covid transformations are revolutionizing the industry and work in the 21st century. The drive to curate this body of work is to find authentic voices, narratives, and trajectories from practitioners and academics for the futures they envision for the underserved. Authors in this handbook canvass a range of topics in the broad areas of technology and innovation, diverse and inclusive labor markets, small business development, and education and training. They also explore challenges, opportunities, risks, and aspirations that characterize the future of work and entrepreneurship in underserved ecosystems. The handbook brings together unique experiences and multiple perspectives from researchers on the future of work and entrepreneurship for underserved communities globally, spanning Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the United States. The handbook underscores the heterogeneity of the Future of Work and Entrepreneurship, and contributes to the ongoing discourses on the subject across the world.
“Transformation is a never-ending process. The future of work and entrepreneurship for the underserved is a struggle for the progress of humanity globally.”

Mindfulness is being incorporated into various arenas, resulting in improved learning, less stress, and more creativity. Revolving around mindfulness in entrepreneurship training, the current project aimed to assess whether and how mindfulness improves the empathy of classroom participants. The research offered an intervention of mindfulness to six sections of college students who were studying entrepreneurship. The project used assessments before and after the research to measure empathy. Empathy was assessed through five dimensions: perspective taking, online simulation, emotion contagion, peripheral responsivity, proximal responsivity, cognitive empathy, and affective empathy. There were significant high empathy outcomes in the mindfulness treatment group compared to the nontreatment group. The current project contributes to mindfulness research within education and offers implications for empathy. The research contributes to shaping a new perspective on mindfulness in the context of teaching entrepreneurial courses that advance empathy. Thus, the purpose of this paper is twofold: to contribute to the pedagogy for entrepreneurship, by explaining the meaning and significance of mindfulness in teaching entrepreneurship and by describing an ultra-brief mindfulness educational approach that facilitates its development.

In 2021, the LaunchPad network expanded to include community colleges for the first time, with the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) through City University of NY receiving the largest grant award in CUNY, marking a significant extension of the LaunchPads' reach. I composed the materials for the BMCC grant. This expansion enables a broader spectrum of students to access training in innovation, critical thinking, and leadership, thereby enhancing their job market competitiveness and entrepreneurial potential. Since its inception, LaunchPad has involved over 35,000 participants and allocated more than $50 million in grants, significantly impacting career development and entrepreneurship education.
