Hey all... JOB OPPORTUNITY !! mini story included_ 2 weeks ago I posted for this role and we made it through interviews in 1 week. I hate dangling 'speed' in front of people bc I know how frustrated people are (this market sucks!), but this truly was a special, refined process. ⚒ Took the brief > presented a stand-out candidate > interviewed over 5 business days > offer! 🙀 It was wild but in the best way! A dream for a great recruiting partnership. But also a > 🎢. And as things go, it wasn't the right timing for this particular candidate. I LOVE this post by Lianna Novitz. I've counseled dozens of college students, recent grads, MBAs, and seasoned professionals during their job search process. I often hear them say, "I'm looking for a new job, can you let me know if you hear of anything?" Take note of Lianna's specificity in the ask and clear representation of her value prop. Lianna successfully and succinctly includes: (1) Career context - what she's done, where she is currently (2) Her "secret sauce" - what differentiates her from the rest, with NUMBERS (3) Career goals - what she's looking for with specifics (4) The ask - a list of tangible ways you can help her in the search (5) Personality and positivity - she keeps it positive by mentioning all the other things she's been up to, she shows parts of herself that aren't necessarily represented on her profile I also had the pleasure of working with Lianna at Unity and through Women Who Code, and highly recommend her as an employee.

Hi everyone! It has come to my attention that someone is impersonating me and reaching out to my former Meta colleagues for support on Instagram. I have been receiving this sort of emails since my time in Meta and they seemed to be impersonating me now instead of the other way round. Please do avoid responding to these sort of emails. If I raise a corporate request, it will never be through any personal gmail/outlook/hotmail etc. It will come with a verified email from my company's email address. Lastly, if I ever get hacked via Instagram/Facebook, I'll reach out through secured channels that are encrypted (i.e. via Whatsapp with my personal number to former colleagues who know my personal number) and not through any other platforms. Please stay vigilant! P.S. As someone who used to submit hacked tickets for partners, I will never ask any colleagues from Meta to skip procedure and escalate it directly so please take note of this 😅

HALF STEPS!!! Exactly 7 years ago I applied to a marketing job at Monster Energy. Tried to network in via my roommate’s brother in the legal dept but ultimately never heard back from anyone on the hiring team. Not even an automated rejection email. I just got laid off from Beachbody in Santa Monica that same month and I realized I needed to take a half step in my career at another smaller company that offered me greater responsibilities in order to be a stronger candidate for the future for companies like Monster Energy. During Covid, I realized I had no connection to my company, product, or customer even though I was leading a digital marketing team with 7 direct reports for a brand that graciously kept us all employed. I was certainly grateful I had a job. But I knew it was time to move on. In 2021, I worked on my resume and my interview responses, and eventually Ryan Brisco hired me on the blind a week after I quit my job and sold my house (at the height of the market) in order to move back to Southern California. “How did you get an ‘in’ at Monster?” was what I heard dozens of times after getting hired. I just applied. But bigger than that, I realized a half step in the right direction was what I needed in order to get to where I really wanted to be. Where you are right now might merely be a stopping point on your resume for a long term goal but don’t discount its value and how you will spring board into your next adventure. My contract role working for Aston Martin (huge thank you to Beverly Macy) was a jumping off point for my contract job at Nike. Nike was a half step that got me to Beachbody. And so on. Leverage your current opportunity so that you can be propelled into a more long term solution. Build with the end in mind and with a positive mindset and let all the half steps lead the way. Welcome a more intentional journey even if it has more twists than what you might expect. Enjoy those half steps. Live in the present. And love whatever role might come next!

Since November 2023, we've been targeting jewelry and car wash businesses in California. Among the five businesses we've collaborated with (some through Flying V Group's content marketer), two have truly stood out. 🔎 Job hunting: 👾 Endless doom scroll or regimented and balanced? ⚖️ If you don’t have a job, looking for a job is probably your job. It can feel tempting to spend the entire day searching and refreshing and perfecting and editing and whateverelseing. If you’re constantly in motion, it feels like you’re doing something. You’re not taking this lying down. 💪 You’re working harder. But then, what about working smarter? Is there a way to do your job hunting stuff on a regular basis while also finding ways to actually enjoy this time without a job? To get out to the beach or go for a walk or to experience some local museum or event you have been meaning to check out. To let life continue to happen. To be enriched by the downtime. To come back to the job hunt refreshed with fresh perspective and inspiration. ✨ If this reads as a post that’s about to give you some advice, I apologize for misleading you. I was just throwing out some ideas that sounded cool. 🤣 This post is actually me looking for suggestions from you. 😬 So, I wondered if anyone wouldn’t mind sharing their job search routines— ones that include time and space for life to happen outside of the doom scrolling refresh of death to which I feel so predisposed. 🤔 What do you do to maintain a work-life balance when job hunting is your job? For the past two weeks, I've been processing what it means to be back in the job market. Along with 99 other talented colleagues, I was "impacted" by Eventbrite's latest round of layoffs. I truly loved working at Eventbrite. It was the first time in my 18 years of writing professionally where I boldly felt that my point of view, design critique, and opinions mattered...made a difference. I was loved and respected by my peers. I was told to continue speaking up because my ideas were novel, and considered parts of a customer's experience that others had neglected to think about. I was told that my stance on balancing work with my personal life was something to strive toward. I collaborated with a small and mighty team everyday, and we helped make Eventbrite millions of dollars. I made Eventbrite's Marketing Tools suite (fka Eventbrite Boost) a better and more successful product. I tore down the original (and to be honest, pretty bland) content and shifted the way we talked to customers to better speak to their business goals and the communities they were building. I taught our customers how to take advantage of their free trial and was with them to celebrate their first ticket sale and first email campaign launch in the form of banner messages and notifications. I stood up Eventbrite Ads from day one. I took Eventbrite's advertising platform from a PRD and test plan to a viable, profitable product. I adopted Eventbrite Ads when it was just a baby in Beta (read more here: https://lnkd.in/gbCrGjrV) and helped develop it to what it is today. I challenged myself everyday to deliver customer needs and wants in balance with our C-suite's financial desires with my work bestie Ozlenen Ozbicerler. And now that chapter is over. It wasn't just the 100 of us who were impacted by Eventbrite's decision to layoff 11% of its workforce. It's the whole company. (And in my mind's eye, it's the entire Eventbrite marketplace, too.) As I begin to rebuild my resume, case studies, writing samples, and portfolio, I cherish the kind words from my former coworkers about working with me. I created this Testimonials page on my portfolio to honor my time at Eventbrite and also remind myself that I'm a BADASS content designer.
