Weird is in and slapstick is out. Interesting article on the state of comedy in advertising. In a world where it's becoming increasingly hard to break through being funny is a superpower. A big watchout is brands playing it safe because safe and humour don't tend to go together. Unless it's a dad joke. Well maybe, although I suspect Ian Forrester 🦩 will confirm that this may not be statistically accurate. The reality when we test content at DAIVID 🦩 it is only the ads that goes hard that move the consumer. This is what creates a lasting memory about the brand and ultimately leads to the desired outcome. It's understandable that taking the less risky option will help everyone sleep better at night, but the outcome is unlikely to deliver the campaign results everyone is hoping for. Whilst I'm of course biased - get testing! The speed and accuracy has been completely transformed in the last few years largely due to the impact of AI. Multiple ideas and cuts can be tested instantly at a fraction of the costs testing used to incur helping to get buy in and avoid unexpected blowback. https://lnkd.in/euEjWBT5

So many great data points in this iHeartMedia study, but this really struck a chord with me: (there is) a disconnect between the average marketer’s life and that of the average consumer that can sometimes impact marketers’ efforts to effectively connect to and reach all important consumer segments in ways that help all consumers feel seen and heard. 🍔 🤔 #SocialMediaMarketing #InfluencerMarketing
