Worked with a team to describe the behavior of an idealized vibrating string. A mathematical model of a musical instrument normally takes the form of a set of differential equations describing the various components of the instrument. In this project, the one-dimensional wave equation was derived by physical examination of the situation.Then, we tried to find the solutions of the wave equation. In particular, we solved initial boundary value problems by the method of separation of variables and fourier sine series. Moreover, we took a detailed look on a string. Initially the string is at rest so our one initial condition would be 0. Our second initial condition turned out to be piecewise continuous function and we found the solutions of initial condition and general solution of the wave equation as a whole. Then, We focused on the scenario where the string is put into motion by plucking the string at a specific position. The components of the string described by the equations show that the motion of the string can be modelled using differential equations
