“Bob is an invaluable source of innovative ideas. His solutions are always a perfect synergy of creativity and best practice, and although he has the mind of an architect, he has the implementation skills of a hardcore engineer. As part of a team, Bob is quick to offer guidance, particularly when it comes to enhancing one's skillset. He drove an effort to get each member of the department a certification in their discipline by the end of the year, and he helped the team study for the particularly grueling parts of their upcoming exams. It's been a pleasure to know and work with Bob here at Harbor Freight.”

The Value of Having a Trusted Partner
Bob Sorace
Attention to detail is extremely important. Going beyond assumptions is even more important. Having a trusted partner who will advocate for you to find the most appropriate and cost-effective solution (not just the easiest one) is more valuable than you might think.

Certificiation is an Ongoing Process
Bob Sorace
Some think attaining a certification is the end of the process when in truth it is simply a checkpoint.
Projects
-
Multi-domain UCS automated provisioning process and firmware management strategy.
- Present
Implementing custom workflows, augmenting in-place automated provisioning processes to reduce implementation times and ensure accuracy of hardware/firmware application per platform.
-
Cisco UCS Mini
Implement a Cisco UCS Mini to introduce 4 x 10G blade form-factor computing to client to replace inefficient rack-mounted servers utilizing multiple 1G connections. Significantly cleaned up and simplified wiring in the data center. Boosted compute Ethernet and iSCSI performance and high availability with redundant 40GB port-channels.
-
Cisco HyperFlex Installation/Implementation
Install net new Cisco UCS HyperFlex HX240c/B200M4 max size configuration in client's existing environment to support VDI initiative. Includes fully-redundant data center power design for optimal component distribution and overhead for growth (HX nodes, UCS Fabric Interconnects, UCS Chassis, PDUs).
-
Cisco MDS Storage Networking Expansion/Optimization
Augment existing SAN environment with new MDS9148S and multiple VSANs to create separate, redundant SAN fabrics to eliminate single-point-of-failure. Balance traffic across both fabrics and ensure LTO Tape traffic is isolated onto separate fabrics to optimize both data and tape traffic.
-
Cisco Nexus Implementation
Implementation of Cisco Nexus switching into legacy Cisco Catalyst environment as an interim step towards replacing the existing Catalyst core with Nexus. This implementation also provides support for new 10GB-connected infrastructure and makes the environment 40GB-ready.
-
Cisco VersaStack Implementation
Installation and configuration of new Cisco VersaStack. Responsible for UCS, MDS, and Nexus switch installation and configuration.
-
IBM BladeCenter to UCS Migration
Implement a net-new UCS environment (2 x 6248UP, 2 x 5108 Chassis) in an existing IBM/Brocade LAN/SAN to replace legacy IBM blades including re-design of VMware ESXi vSwitches to accommodate UCS infrastructure.
