Hope you're all doing well as H2'24 kicks off, bringing in the season of festivity and higher revenue. 🎉 As a Product Leader, I love exploring premiumness or loyalty driving products myself to refine my Product thinking nuggets for user retention. In that context, I had subscribed to LinkedIn Business Premium couple of years back, which renews every year. I have been and am still a LinkedIn Premium Subscriber (as I write this). Interestingly, despite being a Premium member, I continue to receive a barrage of ads and messages prompting me to upgrade... to Premium. 🤔 It makes me wonder if there's a disconnect somewhere within the system - perhaps a hiccup in the CDP or Sales pipelines not syncing with the CRM or DMP? I'm curious to learn from fellow LinkedIn PMs about the best practices they follow to ensure real-time data consistency across different platforms. Specifically for ads or growth campaigns! Additionally, I wonder if there's a possibility, dear LinkedIn PMs fam, to introduce a "Don't show me ads" toggle for dedicated Premium customers? 🤔 This is not a rant, just a request :) Edge cases exist, and I understand your roadmap might be full! Gathering and prioritizing customer feedback - at scale! - is an incredible challenge. A decade ago, we standardized on portals where customers can contribute, sort, search, comment, and vote on ideas. Product Managers spent hours, days, and weeks triaging responses, responding to ideas, and generally becoming frustrated with not being able to keep up with the amount of incoming feedback! 💡 The Sean Ellis test is a simple yet effective method to gauge product market fit. Just ask your users, "How would you feel if you could no longer use this product?" and if 40% or more respond "very disappointed," then you have a leading indicator that you achieved product market fit. Sean Ellis highlights on Lenny Rachitsky's podcast that you can further ask your users why they feel this way to understand what resonates with them the most. In the past, I've run this test at the end of the product journey, however, some companies like Nubank go one step further and optimize for product-market fit down to the feature level. #ProductManagement #ProductDiscovery

I was in conversation with product leaders over the past couple of weeks to better understand the fashion e-commerce space and pondered the design elements of East Asian products. For example, apps like Kakao (a ride-hailing service in South Korea) and Yahoo Japan have super complicated UIs that require users to truly understand and learn the product. This complexity might reflect cultural preferences in East Asia, where users often appreciate detailed information over simplicity. Unlike Western design principles, which prioritize minimalism and user-friendliness, East Asian designs often cater to a more detail-oriented audience. In Japan, for example, the design philosophy tends to be text-heavy and information-rich, driven by a cultural preference for thoroughness and precision. In addition, the hardware-first approach prevalent in East Asia also influences this design complexity. In many cases, robust hardware is prioritized, and software is tailored to make full use of these capabilities, often leading to intricate and feature-packed user interfaces. This approach can stem from a historical context where hardware advancements led the tech industry, and software was developed to complement these powerful devices. Moreover, there is a cultural mindset of “if it works, don’t change it,” leading to a reluctance to overhaul established systems even if they appear complex. This risk-averse approach respects tried-and-true methods, ensuring stability and reliability over adopting new design trends. During our voice-of-customer calls with the East Asian audience, I learned that they deeply engage with their apps, valuing the comprehensive functionality that these detailed interfaces provide. Understanding these cultural and practical nuances is crucial for anyone looking to design products for a global audience. Embracing the diversity in design preferences can lead to more inclusive and effective product solutions. This acquisition holds a special place in my heart for a few reasons: 1️⃣ Two of my closest friends from the ecosystem have come together to shape an exciting future for India's direct-to-consumer space. A multi-million dollar acquisition in D2C tech with both companies based out of India is a rare and monumental achievement. The founders are in a perfect position to create significant value for the entire ecosystem. Chirag Taneja Shashwat Swaroop 2️⃣ Return Prime has been a remarkable success story in the Product-Led Growth (PLG) world, rapidly expanding into 50+ countries and supporting over 6,000 brands. Hats off to Shashwat and his incredible team for building such a powerful SaaS product that solves a crucial pain point in ecommerce. 3️⃣ Returns can quietly drain an ecommerce business, and the fact that GoKwik is expanding its tech stack to tackle all the challenges in the ecommerce funnel is fantastic news for everyone in the space. This move strengthens the ecosystem and enables more businesses to thrive. We need more stories like this – where SaaS companies from India are building for the world. 🌏 I’m optimistic that this is just the beginning of more unicorns emerging from the D2C sector soon! This has been key to Stripe's success." "We try to minimize “presentationing” and the "let me tell you the story" narrative as much as possible. We like reviews where we just jump into the prototype to see and feel it from the user's perspective."
