    On Martin Luther King Jr.'s Day of service at the University of Michigan - Dearborn I volunteered to work with The Michigan Urban Farming Initiative. We spent the day clearing out foreclosed houses in the inner city of Detroit that would become offices for the organization. The organization focuses on growing and teaching inner city inhabitants how to grow their own food. The goal is to alleviate hunger and the need to resort to less than ideal food options when living in poverty or…
