This course is focused on the leadership traits and ethics required to lead tactical units of 100-300 Soldiers towards a common goal of mission accomplishment. In addition to the fundamentals of senior leadership, this course also teaches training management, unit administration, communicative skills, discipline and morale, logistics and maintenance, tactical operations, and physical fitness training.

The course provides instruction to organizational leaders on how to organize and manage unit safety programs and spotlights Composite Risk Management from a command viewpoint. Other topics covered in the course include loss prevention, accident investigation and reporting, workplace and transportation safety, communication of safety messages and family and off-duty safety.

The Senior Leader Course is an Ordnance Corps and Maintenance–specific course that provides an opportunity for senior enlisted leaders to acquire the leader, technical, and tactical skills, knowledge, and experience needed to lead platoon/company size units.

The course is broken down into two parts, a 90-day highly facilitated web-based common core program and a branch-specific resident phase designed to teach leadership skills and occupational specialty technical skills.
