According to a McKinsey study, Brazil holds significant potential to attract global capital for its energy transition efforts. By 2040, projections estimate Brazil could secure $30 billion in renewable energy investments, $60 billion in power-based energy, and $35 billion in the carbon market. A key portion of this investment will focus on the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) derived from vegetable oils and ethanol, alongside hydrogen. Brazil is already the world´s second-largest biofuels producer, only behind the United States, with sugarcane-based ethanol production reaching 35.6 billion liters, in addition to biodiesel, as per the International Energy Agency (IEA). Brazil also benefits from abundant biomass availability and a strong track record in biofuel production for sustainable aviation. Excellent concept from Rystad Energy, the challenge will be in the execution - this is an independent's game as the volumes don't move the needle for the majors - perhaps the rise of PRIO, BRAVA Energia and other local independents can create the ecosystem necessary for a successful ILX game in Brazil. This ecosystem includes a regulatory environment that facilitates infrastructure access and a service sector that is not captive to Petrobras. We had a fantastic turnout at the Latin America Project Update Webinar on 12 September, with over 300 registered attendees. The event provided information about the energy markets of Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia, highlighting major projects and future trends. Highlights from the presentations: Victoria Kegler and Guilherme Bié from EIC (Energy Industries Council) offered a comprehensive analysis of investment trends and future projections across key Latin American countries. They also provided an in-depth look at operational assets in the region, emphasizing Brazil's leadership in renewables and the current state of the oil & gas sector. Felipe Pestana (Grupo Planus) discussed Brazilian tax challenges and opportunities, focusing on dividends, international fund flow, and the tax system. Pablo D. We have accomplished a great milestone in our uSlim azimuthal resistivity tools for coiled-tubing drilling projects. Our recent seawater test in Galveston, Texas has unsurprisingly demonstrated the tool’s capability by design, i.e., boundary mapping without tool rotation, a scenario similar to coiled-tubing drilling. The well-defined resistivity contrast across the water surface helped us confirm the new concepts of measurement behind our 2-3/8” and 3-1/8” tools. The test data not just honored the modeled seawater response but also allowed us to invert for the distance to the water.

Acelen has enhanced safety protocols for navigation, operations, workforce, and environmental standards at the Madre de Deus Terminal (Temadre). This terminal serves as the primary outlet for the Mataripe Refinery, which supplies 42% of the Northeast and 80% of Bahia. Located in the Bay of All Saints, 65 km from Salvador, the facility can now accommodate larger SuezMax ships, each capable of carrying approximately one million barrels of oil, thereby reducing logistical CO2 emissions. Initially investing R$ 70 million in Temadre's first stage upgrade, Acelen has implemented various modernization measures at the terminal. These include conducting maintenance dredging of the channel, a task not undertaken in over two decades, which has restored its operational navigational depth to around 15.5 meters. This action has minimized the need for ship-to-ship procedures, where oil and derivative cargoes are transferred directly between vessels, bypassing onshore structures. This initiative is part of our strategy to enhance logistical efficiency, foster market growth, and engage with clients, all based on ESG principles. #maritimeterminal #navigation #logistics #efficiency #clients #ESG #business
