I’d like to dispute this statement… “The headwinds facing local journalism nationwide made it essential to strategically reimagine how we deliver the news for the most impact.” I won’t address how this essential move will strategically reimagine how to deliver the news for the most impact—but I will dispute the first part of that sentence. The headwinds are not facing local journalism nationwide. They are (and have been for many years) facing local journalism JOBS nationwide. Jobs that pay a living wage in some of the most expensive cities in the country—and in some of the smallest towns, where you’d be shocked if you knew how little some of your local reporters are paid. Americans are clamoring for local news. They’re clamoring for national news. They want to know what’s happening in the world and in their neighborhoods. But because the headwinds include an incessant need to help giant companies dig themselves out of financial holes they themselves created, local journalism is disappearing. The AM-FM fight over the radio news space, and the role of radio in general is a story for another day. For now, let’s just say that WCBS 880 is (was) a great station full of award-winning broadcasters who know how to tell a story. They’ll take their talents elsewhere, hopefully. But it won’t be the same as turning on 880 in my car or at home or on my app and listening to all that local journalism in one place. Magid is right about the reality that newsrooms are seeing shrinking resources. While Generative AI is not meant to lead to smaller newsrooms, it would be naive to think that isn’t going to happen. Newsroom leaders need to set standards now versus waiting to see what happens. It’s crucial to strike a balance and ensure AI complements rather than replaces the human touch in journalism.

Inflation + market correction have significantly impacted the podcasting business, leading to reduced budgets for production companies. Deals that once reached $500,000 for a limited series are now halved, with most budgets ranging from $150K to $250K. This results in thinner margins, staff reductions, fewer episodes, and potentially lower quality as studios adapt to less funding. Some companies are also shifting towards becoming distributors to retain rights to their programming. It looked so bad but more worrisome is that the Reporter/Editor, happens to be one of the best. - It made me to wonder what happened 🙆 - As I edited and corrected the script, many thoughts came to my mind🙇‍♀️ * the Editor was very tired * the Editor had many things he was doing at once * the Editor was in a hurry, you know, production time * or was in a hurry to finish the work and leave * the Editor was distracted within the environment * the Reporter as Editor didn't go through the story a second time * the Editor worked alone * the Editor was hungry * the Editor is poorly remunerated * the Editor this OR that * Add your own🤷‍♀️🙆‍♂️🤦‍♀️ ### I am really thinking that all the aforementioned will change when individuals, organisations, government and the society begin to do their best to boost work productivity✍️👌💯 * Then, all these 👇will change, these errors 👇👇 will be nipped in the bud💯 * the first paragraph had 2 'articles' ❌️ * the place of event ' where' not well captured❎️ * last line of the first paragraph has another sentence that should have stood alone❌️ * second paragraph; use of collective noun ' government at all level' instead of 'levels '❌️ * the phrase to come to their aid🤷‍♀️ * third paragraph, poorly punctuated ❌️ * fourth and last paragraphs, so disjointed ❌️ * add more ✍️ ## foodforthought👌 ## we-can-do-better together 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦
