Just released! BLS August 2024 Jobs Report! How did Houston fare? Well, we had to contend with recovery from Hurrican Beryl, a COVID resurgence that impacted many people, vacations and families getting children back to school. Will September be any better? I believe it will. Overall, here are the National numbers, 📈 142K jobs added to the U.S. economy in August. Slower than expected, but up from July. 💼 The unemployment rate decreased slightly to 4.2%. Transwestern's Q1 office report for San Antonio is out, revealing insights and an outlook for the area. Despite Q1 showing increased vacancy rates and negative absorption, these numbers are look backwards, not forwards and positive shifts are underway in Q2, indicating a more optimistic sentiment in the San Antonio metro area. San Antonio stands out as the top city in the nation for population growth, with approximately 22,000 new residents added in 2023, the highest in the country. Costar projects that San Antonio will lead in office rent growth over the next four years due to favorable conditions compared to other markets. Population growth is a key driver for commercial real estate, indicating continued demand for service centers, retail, and outperformance in industrial and office spaces. While there is currently an oversupply in office and industrial vacancies, limited new construction in the pipeline suggests a rebound in fundamentals, favoring landlords in the next 12-18 months. Amidst these market dynamics, now is an opportune time for companies to consider right-sizing or leveraging the soft market conditions before potential tightening later this year and into 2025. Companies are also reentering the market to acquire properties for their use, capitalizing on the softer sales market and favorable loan terms for owner-users. I had to conquer more than one fear when I moved from El Paso to the Texas Hill Country. ➡ Operating large machinery (like a tractor) ➡ Road trips by myself for more than 3 hours ➡ Navigating a new city in a car by myself ➡ Bugs! ➡ Walking alone on the ranch ➡ Starting a coaching/consulting business where I am selling ME Still working on overcoming that last one but, with the help of my coach, I am making progress:) There were SO many changes when my husband and I relocated from suburbia to the ranch. We left friends and family, both of us now work from home, we are 30 minutes from a grocery store, doctor, dentist, etc. Below are some tips that may help you when you are experiencing a life transition: ➡ Plan, plan, plan ➡ Give yourself grace when you neglect to plan for everything ➡ Take any help that is offered, with thanks and gratitude ➡ Continue your self-care, it is more important during a transition than ever ➡ Establish a routine as soon as possible, maybe a new one, maybe the one you have been following for years ➡ Call on your resources - friends, family, colleagues, neighbors - most are more than willing to support you ➡ Keep the faith - in yourself, in God if you are a believer Every day, people all over the world face much bigger challenges than we did, and I remind myself daily of my good fortune.
