    In support of the National Day of Civic Hacking, Los Angeles hosted Hack for LA on June 1-2, 2013 at the Boyle Heights Youth Technology Center. Following Los Angeles’ election of our new mayor, Eric Garcetti, the hackathon and makerfaire offered government agencies, businesses, nonprofits and civically engaged individuals the opportunity to work together to move into a new era of solving complex social problems through technology innovation.     In support of the National Day of Civic Hacking, Los Angeles hosted Hack for LA on June 1-2, 2013 at the Boyle Heights Youth Technology Center. Following Los Angeles’ election of our new mayor, Eric Garcetti, the hackathon and makerfaire offered government agencies, businesses, nonprofits and civically engaged individuals the opportunity to work together to move into a new era of solving complex social problems through technology innovation. We had more than 450 people attend, and 40 apps were submitted for judging on Sunday. You can see all the submissions, the winners, and our event sponsors at HackforLA.challengepost.com. With exhibits from Two Bit Circus and LA Makerspace, Deezmaker, The Exploratory, Crashspace and Rolling Robots. Hack for LA showcased the latest tech, from 3D printing to robotics, to help inspire young community members to consider careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
