Prevent Homelessness Before it Starts! For the first time in over 10 years, Alameda County has seen a reduction in the number of people experiencing homelessness! BACS is providing permanent housing, rapid re-housing, housing navigation, and more. Today, we want to highlight one major initiative that is expanding through the Bay Area: preventing homelessness before it starts through Keep People Housed. Results: Over 8,500 people received emergency financial assistance & support services since 2018 92% remained housed 6 months later! As we count down to CONSTANT’s official 20-year anniversary on Saturday, learn what we’ve been up to this year! In this series, we will spotlight five (5) accomplishments in 2024.    At #4, CONSTANT continued to work with local communities and the State of California on equity and access and functional needs- related initiatives in 2024. While disasters impact entire communities, they often illuminate longstanding disparities and disproportionately affect some community members and groups more than others. As disasters continue to strengthen in frequency, duration, and impact, it is critical that steps continue to be taken by individuals, communities, and all levels of government to fill gaps in disaster preparedness and promote resilience.    CONSTANT is honored to play a role in this progress by supporting AFN and equity-related projects spanning gap assessments, guidance documents, and community engagement.
