How can you use humor in research presentations without undermining credibility?
Gone are the days where we read the same content off of boring slides, we have seen thousands of those presentations and none of them stand out in my mind as powerful. The most memorable presentations present relevant information in a memorable way using digestible material and examples. The goal is for the audience to leave with more knowledge, not showing how intelligent you are. As the next generations start to make up the bulk of the workforce it is essential that presenters make content digestible, relevant, memorable, fun, and unique otherwise it will be just another presentation that is forgotten as soon as attendees leave. Build a personal brand that represents this and your credibility is already established in the industry.

What are some common triggers that lead to escalation?
This is tough because it also relies upon understanding someone's personal experiences. What might not be triggering to me may be very triggering to someone else. I think the most important topic surrounding triggers is that we have to give each other grace on all sides. 1. When we accidentally use a trigger phrase, word or action is important for others to understand that we may have had good intentions but we do not all live the same experiences. So if you are triggered, try to remember the other person may have meant zero harm. 2. On the other side of this, if we trigger someone the appropriate response is "I am sorry I made you feel this way." You don't have to understand their perspective because you live a different reality.
