When people have asked me what my book is about, I have struggled to answer. That's because the project started more than 12 years ago in a series of eulogies I delivered over the course of a single, very difficult summer. I recently got the chance to write about the connection between the eulogy as a form of nonfiction and other writing that blends biography, journalism, and memoir. While thought leadership is a great way to get noticed, that doesn’t mean that it’s easy to cut through the noise and volume of content that comes through email or other direct channels. It takes strategy to take your thought leadership content from “nice to read” to must-read.   One way I help my C-suite clients stand out from the crowd is by asking top-of-mind questions. There’s something extraordinary that happens when a thought leader brings up THE question/s and concerns that target audiences are thinking about but may not be addressing.   When leaders or companies ask critical questions, ones that help you to reevaluate business decisions, they’re doing their job as influencers and thought leaders by helping you:   ❓Gain deeper understanding of the issues at hand ❓Discover insights into other perspectives ❓Learn from failure or challenges ❓Become motivated to take action   I recall reading something about how women business owners should be marketing their companies. It was about nuances in my outbound marketing that I had been thinking of, but unfortunately not doing anything about as I kept pushing it away.
