Today, Adam Meyers, Senior Vice President of Counter Adversary Operations at CrowdStrike, appeared before the House Homeland Security Committee. Dr. Green set the tone of the meeting by saying that the hearing was not intended to malign CrowdStrike, but to learn from the event, and make sure it doesn't happen again. He shared that Jen Easterly (Dir. of CISA) called this event a "dress rehearsal for what China may want to do to us", then followed by saying he hopes he "never makes it to opening night". Let's hope that he is correct, that a true cyberattack of this magnitude can be avoided. Mr. Meyers began his opening comments by saying he was "deeply sorry" for the event, and shared the steps that CrowdStrike has taken (and plans to take) to prevent outages in the future. Healthcare’s cybersecurity challenges have shined a light on how the industry has failed to protect patient data by not dedicating enough resources to address the problem.  Health systems and insurers are dealing with the aftermath of the industry’s latest large-scale ransomware attacks on St. Louis-based Ascension, UnitedHealth Group's Change Healthcare and Chicago-based Lurie Children's Hospital, among others. Conversations are happening over whether organizations should be bringing in outside consultants or hiring more employees, executives say.  #healthcare #cybersecurity #cyberattacks #hospitals ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

Thorough Third Party Risk Management goes beyond just information or cyber risk. Assessing and understanding the Business Risks introduced through the relationship should also be monitored and managed. If your company has cyber liability insurance... ...you may want to get it reviewed by an independent expert, because insurance carriers are starting to inject low limits and other requirements into both new policies and renewals. That "$3M cyber insurance policy" you bought might not be a true $3M cyber insurance policy anymore.
